Ich über mich
Hallo! Ich bin "Frau" Chrissy Galaise.
I have been teaching German at Northmont High School since December 2005. I began learning German when I was 14 years old and haven't stopped since. After high school, I studied German at Miami University of Ohio, as well as University of Heidelberg in Germany, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 2003. Immediately afterward I began the necessary coursework to gain teaching licensure. In our classroom students learn German through communication and culture using authentic resources. This includes working with partners and in small groups often, practicing the five main types of skills: listening, reading, communication, writing, and speaking. The use of technology is integrated into class daily, as students are given many opportunities to take the driver's seat on their world language learning journey. I'm a Dayton native and love my hometown. That being said, I also love traveling. I have visited 16 countries; the travel bug has definitely bitten me! A getaway is always something to look forward to. Family ancestry is a great interest of mine, as well as desktop design, although only at an amateur level. I love cooking and baking, especially, and am always looking for someone to test the new recipes I try. I love riding my motorcycles when I get the chance. I've been on so many amazing adventures and seen so many beautiful places. I'm a member and board secretary of the Dayton Liederkranz Turner German Club downtown. I'm a mother of two: Cora was born in April 2008 and Lea in July 2010. We enjoy camping, hiking, movies, reading, traveling, amusement parks, playing games, roller skating, going to the library, and making messes at home. We share our home with three beloved dogs: Robin Hood, Little John, and Maid Marian - retired racing greyhounds. I like to share my travel bug with students and look to take students to Europe every few years. It is the best way to make the classroom come to life. Please check out the link to the trip I'm leading in June 2024 and November 2025. |
